Mr Abu Zoda treated me at the Fitz William hospital in Peterborough for endometriosis last september, he wanted to put me straight onto zoladex (which is a heavy duty hormone drug that causes a chemical menopause & has many truly horrible side effects, it is implanted into the stomach & lasts a month at a time, once implanted it cannot be removed so if it doesnt suit you you cant just stop taking it) I refused this treatment without him correctly diagnosing me via laparoscopy first like hes supposed to do, he then said he would not treat me at all & would instead refer me to a pain clinic! I stood firm & insisted I was not taking zoladex without a laparoscopy & when I stood my ground he quickly changed his tune & agreed to the laparoscopy which he duly carried out, he assured me he was used to & skilled at carrying out surgery for endometriosis ,I have had endometriosis for over 20 years on & off & am very well informed on my condition & treatments available, every other laparoscopy I have had & this was my 7th the surgeon has dealt with the endo & excised the adhesions then & there,Mr Abu Zoda did not, he did not touch my stage 2 endo at all! when I went back to see him he insisted I had the 6 month course of zoladex like he wanted me to have all along or a full hysterectomy including my ovaries & they were the only options, I am only 41 & did not want to do this due to sudden menopause after the removal of my ovaries,I explained I had had severe side effects & had to stop treatment on my doctors advice when I tried the zoladex treatment several years previously & that it would also badly affect other unrelated health conditions I also have, but he did not listen to me at all & brushed all my concerns aside,he at no time took into account my other health problems or the fact Id had a bad reaction to zoladex before & still insisted it was either that or hysterectomy so really left me little choice,I therefore agreed against my better judgement to the zoladex as I saw it as the lesser of two evils & was in so much pain at that point & by now had been for several months with no relief & had to try something.Within a month of being on the zoladex I had a severe allergic reaction much worse than the time previously & developed a very rapid heart rate, heart palpatations, dangerously high blood pressure which would then suddenly plunge dangerously low & I would then faint & chest pains & struggling for breath,I was admitted to hospital over christmas with a possible mild heart attack, thankfully after a full battery of tests that was not so & the hospital drs told me they thought it was the zoladex,my GP told me to immediately stop the treatment & referred me back to Mr Abuzoda on an emergency app to see what to do next.At that app Mr Abuzoda was arrogant, rude & demanded to know why I insisted seeing him as he was not due to see me again until Id had the full 6 month course of zoladex,I explained I had not asked for the app my gp had advised it & written to him to get me the emergency app,he then claimed hed had no letter from my GP despite his secretary ringing me the previous week to say she had received my GPs letter & was calling to offer me the emergency app,he was very dismissive of the severe problems I had been having since starting treatment,he told me in no way were these symptoms caused by zoladex even though it clearly stated on the patient info leaflet that came with the implants all the serious problems I had were uncommon but were possible side effects from the zoladex,he didnt believe my blood pressure was as high as I claimed & called in a sister to take my blood pessure...it was 220/170 so he got her to do it again manually & it was even higher! the colour drained from his face & he told me I must have some kind of serious undiagnosed heart problem & it was my gps fault for not diagnosing it & was nothin to do with the treatment he advised,he then got a receptionist to call ahead to citi hospital a mile up the road to say he was sending me to them & promptly showed myself & my husband out of his office, the Drs at citi were waiting for me when I got there & carried out heart & lung tests to rule out underlying conditions, when all tests were ok they agreed with me that the only thing left that could be causing it was the zoladex & that I shoud go back & see the gyni that put me on the treatment for advice, but seeing as Mr Abuzoda point blank denied it was anything to do with what he prescribed I had nowhere to turn & was advised to ask for a second opinion elsewhere & thank god I did! I have since been seen by an extremely reputable consultant who agrees that Zoladex can cause the problems I had & that I dont have to have a hysterectomy if I dont want to & that it can be treated surgically with no more zoladex & I am now awaiting further surgery to put right that which could have been done 8 months ago if Mr Abuzoda had been competent enough to carry it out! he wasnt & was too arrogant to admit it & refer me to someone who was,it was beyond his skills & as a result I have had a multitude of problems which have taken almost 4 months to recover from, months of pain & worry & possible major surgery I didnt need,I dont know what hes like with anything else but if you have endometriosis do not go to this Dr he is not competent in dealing with it,hes very arrogant & will not listen to your concerns & does not consider your health overall, he is patronising in his manner when discussing treatment & the only surgery I was offered to deal my endometriosis was A full hysterectomy including the removal of my ovaries,I would not recomend Mr Abuzoda at all as I was given incorrect advice

Mr Abouzoda consistently applies sensitivity and warmth to me as a patient. He is respectful and understanding of a woman's feelings and concerns and listens without a sense or rushing or a need to move on quickly. In a recent situation of minor surgery Mr Abouzoda listened and took on board my wishes for a different approach and facilitated my wishes by making changes in his process, and his team's, and by making his team aware of my wishes. I have no doubt it wasn't the most convenient choice but my views and wishes were heard and respected and I felt that my right to make an informed choice and decision about my care was acknowledged and honoured. Mr Abouzoda always endeavours to meet my needs as a patient and has managed to fit in an extra appointment on more than one occasion to ensure I receive the correct treatment in a timely way.

This consultant was the nicest man who listened and spoke to both me and my husband on how was best to deliver our baby. I cannot thank him enough for the treatment we received.

This was my first visit to Mr Abuzoda and he was very reassuring. He listened to my concerns and made the whole process as pleasant and relaxing as possible. There was a male student present at the initial consultation. As I am quite reserved I said I would prefer not to have him at the physical examination. This was no problem at all and there was only a female nurse present. Mr Abuzoda explained everything to me before the examination. He then explained his findings and why happily I would not need any further treatment. He seems kind and caring. I would reassure any of my friends who had an appointment to see him, and I would happily go back to him if it were necessary.
